How to keep the conversation going on a first date Keeping the conversation going with someone you hardly know is easy! Just remember what people like to talk about most.....themselves. This could not be more perfect. It gives you an opportunity to get to know the person better without having to worry about doing all the talking and what to say. Ask them open ended questions about their current life. In other words, don't ask them questions they can answer with a simple yes or no. Here are some examples: -You mentioned to me that you are in banking. What made you choose that as a career? -What made the holiday's special for you this year? -How do you feel about the President's latest speech? What did he say that intrigued you? Why? Actively listen to how your date answers the questions and let the conversation flow naturally. Take mental notes on whether you agree with their thoughts and ideas and whether they have the kind of attitude and beliefs that turn you on or off. It is very difficult if not impossible to change a person. Therefore, don't even try. Pursue going on another date only with people who have the same basic philosophy as you and who make you feel warm inside by what they say and how they act. Remember, no on is perfect, but you do need to be selective. DATING TIP.........by Linda Curcio Linda is the author of the book "How to Meet & Marry Mr. Right". |
